Agelas mauritiana var. oxeata Lévi, 1961

Agelas mauritiana is a large ,often irregular cup-like sponge.The colour can be greyish to purple,brown with an olive tint or greysih blue with an olive tint.The Pocked cup sponge
build often large colonies on flattish reefs to dephts of 10-50m. This sponge is a filterfeeder.

This sponge has probably an antimicrobial agent.
