Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Astreopora acroporina are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Astreopora acroporina, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Astreopora acroporina, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Astreopora acroporina Wallace, Turak & DeVantier, 2011

Very spezial Thank to Lyndon DeVantier for the wonderful Pictures of Astreopora acroporina.

Distribution: Cenderawasih Bay, Papua 2006

The branching Astreopora from Cenderawasih Bay is not alone in its preference of growth form but it’s nothing compared to Astreopora acroporina. If you are a self-professed Acro junkie like ourselves you’ll flip when you see the big honkin’ axial corallite riding the branch tips grown by Astreopora acroporina.

The colonies of Astreopora acroporina described were all from even shallower water
