Chirostylus sandyi , commonly known as the Spider squat lobster is known from the West Pacific, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The tiny carapace with spider-like long legs is brick red in colour with yellow lines on the carapace and white spots on the upper segment of the legs. The size is up to 8cm.It feeds on zooplankton.
Spider squat lobsterusually inhabits gorgonians in water deeper than 15 m ( The depth range at least 15-40 m.) .
Chirostylus sandyi , a new species of squat lobster, is described from two female specimens collected on a reef flat in Bohol, Philippines, and from the Lembeh Strait, Indonesia.
