Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Astrea devantieri are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Astrea devantieri, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Astrea devantieri, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Astrea devantieri, Veron, 2000

From Corals of the world:
Taxonomic note: Little known species. Called Plesiastrea devantieri (= Astrea devantieri) in Veron (2000a) and Veron (2002a). Astrea devantieri was retained by Huang, Benzoni, Fukami et al. (2014) as a separate ‘sister’ species, but the holotype of Plesiastrea devantieri is unambiguously this species

Synonym; Plesiastrea devantieri Veron, 2000
