Mandela's nudibranch the only member of the genus Mandelia and the family Mandeliidae. The genus and family named honor Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa. The specific name is derived from the Latin mirus (odd) and cornus (horn) in reference to the peculiar shape of the rhinophores of this species.
