Info

The deep-sea bamboo coral Isidella trichotoma is so far only known from a few places, which is possibly also due to the water depth in which the coral occurs.
At present we have to owe an indication of the size of the bamboo coral, the available scientific documentations dealt with fragments of the coral.
Deep sea corals are azooxanthellate and depend on catching marine snow and smallest plankton.

Naming: "trichna" comes from Greek and means "three parts" and "tomos" stands for "one cut", alluding to the way the coral branches.
