Info

Exact size data of the gorgonian Callogorgia euthyeia are currently missing, in the paper "Primnoidae (Gorgonacea) de Nouvelle-Calédonie",
page 475, at least a branch with 28cm length is mentioned and the hint that the complete colony must be much larger.

Fanellia euthyeia is characterized by a uniform, twiggy growth habit.

The gorgonian was first discovered around the northwestern Hawaiiian Islands, off Raita Bank, Necker Island, also off Moloka'i.
Later the species was also found around Johnston Atoll, around the Society Islands in French Polynesia and around New Caledonia.

Etymology: The species name "euthyeia" is from Greek, "euthys stands for !straight, vertical, reminds the shape of the colony.

Synonym: Fanellia euthyeia Bayer & Stefani, 1989
