Info

Gorgasia galzini is a very small, slender tube eel with tiny, abundant dark spots, white postorbital spots, widely spaced dark spots along the edge of the dorsal fin.

These tube eels are common in sand lagoons. They can be seen from a distance stretching out of their holes to feed on passing plankton.
They quickly retreat into their holes when divers get too close to capture their speckled pattern, a telephoto lens is required.

The eels occur in dense colonies of about 6 individuals per square meter.

Habitat: Soft bottom sediments (sandy bottoms / muddy bottoms).
