Info

Psyllids of the suborder Hyperiids are the third most abundant marine zooplankton of crustaceans after euphausiids and copepods.
Phronima sedentaria, in particular, has a worldwide distribution.

Phronima sedentaria is a vertical diurnal migrant and spends the night near the surface (0 - 25 meters) and lives up to 1100 meters during the day.

Phronima sedentaria is known to associate with gelatinous zooplankton, such as pelagic tunicates.

Phronima sedentaria nests in salps and then lays fertilized eggs inside the salp.
The juvenile amphipods hatch inside the salp, which then serves as their food.
