Telmatactis panamensis is a small anemone with a mouth disc 10 -15 mm in diameter and an elongated column, smaller at the base, covered with a mud-colored, finely wrinkled epidermis.
The small anemone is found on solid substrates, under rocks, large stones or shells in the intertidal zone and in the subtidal zone up to 35 m depth.
