Info

Lobotes pacifica is a large three-tailed perch that can also be found far out at sea around floating objects.

Juvenile perch are sometimes found among floating debris, the small animals may lie on their side on the surface imitating a floating dark leaf.
Juveniles are also sometimes found in floating Sargassum grass and often use mangroves as nursery areas.

The back of the perch is dark brown or greenish-yellow, its body sides are silver-grey, while the pectoral fins are pale yellow and all other fins are dark.
Juveniles are generally dark brown, but may be spotted

Lobotes pacifica is not an animal for a home aquarium, but is a very desirable and strong fighting sport fish.
