Tyrannodoris caboverdensis (Pola, Cervera & Gosliner, 2003)
Tyrannodoris caboverdensis is a sea snail in the family Polyceridae. It was discovered on the Cape Verde Islands, which is also what the species name “caboverdensis” refers to. “Caboverdensis” is Latin and means “relating to or coming from Cape Verde”. So far this slug is only known from the Cape Verde Islands.
Tyrannodoris caboverdensis is predominantly black with horizontal orange lines. It reaches a length of around 70 mm, but usually remains significantly smaller at 10-40mm. The rhinophores are completely retractable and have up to 35 lamellae.
Like other members of the genus Tyrannodoris, it is a predatory carnivore that feeds on other slugs.
