Biemna cribaria is a light brown, rather circular sponge that lives partially buried in sediments,
Its surface has irregular projections and raised ocular areas with shallow internal exhalation channels.

The marine sponge is reminiscent of dirty, old cow dung.

Biemna cribaria is a rather rarely observed marine sponge.
