Parablennius yatabei occurs in tidal zones on rocky coasts down to a depth of 5 meters, where it is thought to feed on algae and detritus.
Juvenile fish eat 94.4% copepods and 5.6% tintinnids (ciliates).

The blenny is well camouflaged by its pattern.
