In AIMs steht: "Similar species: Goniastrea australensis is the only fully meandroid Goniastrea. Underwater, it may be difficult to distinguish from Platygyra lamellina, but skeletons are readily distinguished by their well developed columella centres and paliform lobes. Submeandroid colonies may resemble Goniastrea pectinata. See also Oulophyllia crispa."

Zum Verhalten des Spezies:
Hat dünnere Tantakeln als meine andere Platygyras und diese sind sehr lang.
Die Wälle (Polypenränder) sind recht lappig. Soll heißen, dass die Wälle nicht geschlossen sind sondern das sie getrennt sind und keine feste Einhat bilden. Wenn das Tier sich unwohl fühlt kann es die Lappen (die Polypenränder!) so weit expandieren (und umschlagen), dass die grünen Polypenzentren kaum zu sehen sind. Sie sieht dann deutlich anders aus.
Die Koralle wächst unter den gleichen Bedingungen deutlich schneller als meine anderen Platygyras und auch deutlich krustenförmiger.
