$kat inhabits steep slopes, lagoons and coral reefs.
Juvenile animals usually live singly in large corals or large sponges.
Adults often in small groups.

Occasionally they form mixed groups with Macolor niger.
Both species look similar.
They feed primarily on large zooplankton at night.
