Inhabit coastal rocky reefs, often silty habitats and in lagoons on open sand. Found over sand and rubble patches of seaward reefs.

Benthopelagic.

Feed on echinoids, fishes, mollusks, tunicates, crustaceans, algae, polychaete worms, foraminiferans and detritus.
