The rich yellow colored subtropical mini goby inhabits shallow coasts at moderate depths on muddy substrates in an ancestral depth range of 5 to 100 meters.
Since such small fish are on the feeding list of many larger predators, the fish likes to find suitable homes, such as empty clam shells or snail shells, and also likes to stay in the shelter of various corals.
