Info

Assmann, van Soest & Köck, 2001

Agelas cerebrum is a vase sponge found in only a few areas of the Caribbean, particularly around the Bahamas. The sponge comes in the shades of cinnamon-medium brown and pink-purple, SeaLifeBase also reports orange animals.

The consistency of the sponge is described as tough and difficult to press in; there are often several vases together whose oscula are rounded.
