Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Muricea hebes are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Muricea hebes, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Muricea hebes, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Muricea hebes forms colonies that can be 10 to 25 cm high and 8 to 20 cm wide.
The color of the horn coral is a dark reddish-orange with white polyps.

Dr. Odalisca Breedy, one of the experts on Eastern Pacific horn corals, reported that horn corals from the Eastern Pacific are always azooxanthellate and are therefore dependent on a continuous influx of plankton.
